DZMM wins ‘Best AM Radio Station’
May 12, 2015 (QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES) – ABS-CBN won the ‘Best TV Station’ in the 23rd Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Golden Dove Awards bringing its total number of Best TV Station awards to 12 in the first quarter of 2015. It won a total of 29 trophies, 15 from the TV category and 14 from the radio category.
The other ABS-CBN winners are: Jericho Rosales, for ‘Best TV Actor for Drama,’ and Bea Alonzo, for ‘Best TV Actress for Drama,’ leading the haul. News and Public affairs personalities such as Julius Babao (Best Radio Newscaster), Ted Failon (Best Public Affairs Host), and Atom Araullo (Best TV Public Affairs Host) were also honored as well as DZMM’s Edwin Sevidal (Best Field Reporter), Bro. Jun Banaag, Order of Preachers (Best Music Radio Jock), and Ariel Ureta (Best Magazine Program Host for Radio).
Boy Abunda’s “The Bottomline” bagged the ‘Best Public Affairs Program for TV’ to lead other awardees such as “Failon Ngayon” (Best Public Service Program), “Two Wives” (Best Drama Program), “The Voice Kids” (Best Variety Program), “Home Sweetie Home” (Best Comedy Program), “Matanglawin” (Best Science and Technology Program and Best Children’s Program), “My Puhunan” (Best Magazine Program), and “Sports Unlimited” (Best Sports Program).
DZMM 630 (DZMM Teleradyo), recognized as ‘Best AM Radio Station,’ rode the successes of their various programs such as “Dos Por Dos” (Best Radio Public Affairs Program), “Radyo Patrol Alas Dose” (Best Radio News Program), “DYAB Radyo Patrol Balita Alas Dose (in Cebu)” (Best Newscast for Provincial), “Aksyon Ngayon” (Best Public Service Program), “Sakto” (Best Variety Program), “Maalaala Mo Kaya sa DZMM” (Best Drama Program), and “Kapamilya Konek” (Best Magazine Program).
ABS-CBN also won the awards in the ‘Best Public Service Announcement’ categories for both Television and Radio thanks to “Bayani” (Best TV PSA) and “DZMM EDSA” (Best Radio PSA). The “Thank You, Ang Babait Ninyo” Christmas station ID was deemed as the ‘Best TV Station Promotional Material.’
The company was awarded ‘Best TV Station’ at the Young Educator’s Council of SOCKSARGENS’s (YECS) Aral Parangal Awards; Mapua Institute of Technology’s 1st Gawad Kamalayan Awards; Eastern Visayas State University’s (EVSU) 1st Students’ Choice Mass Media Awards; 13th Gawad TANGLAW (Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw) composed of Jose Rizal University, Philippine Women’s University, University of Perpetual Help System, and Colegio De San Juan de Letran; Holy Angel University’s 2nd Paragala Central Luzon Media Awards; Andurog Awards for Highest Distinction from Bicol University, Northwest Samar State University’s 6th NwSSU Student’s Choice Awards for Radio and Television; Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila’s UmalohokJUAN Awards; and University of the Philippines-Los Baños’ 9th Gandingan: UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards; 11th USTv Awards of University of Sto. Tomas; and Platinum Stallion Awards of Trinity University of Asia.
The Golden Dove Awards program is held annually by the country’s broadcast media association, KBP. Winners are chosen from the association’s members by independent jurors representing the various groups in the society – youth, academe, religious groups, advertising industry, and government.
